"My father has been in Forget Me Not now for 18 months, and at the age of 94 is thriving there. Top plus points are, hands-on owners, staff who genuinely care, residents treated as individuals, good home cooking a warm homely atmosphere, open at all times for relatives and friends to visit, and an imaginative range of good quality activities. There are on top of the close attention to health and well-being. Don’t be seduced by the grand décor and modern facilities advertised elsewhere – this is real ‘care’ home."

Quotes from NHS Choices

"Forget Me Not has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and is supported by hands-on owners. Dad was cared for there with warmth and compassion for two years, including his last few days of life, and I could not have wanted anywhere better for him. The staff combine the skill and knowledge of their profession with care for each resident as an individual human being, and are very good at helping each to get the most out of life and to feel loved. The excellent home cooked food is an added bonus."

"A place of residence I think is probably one of the best in the district. Run with the thoughts of the residents being the main consideration with caring, friendly staff on call 24 hours a day. Whenever we visit (3-4 times a week between 3 siblings), the staff are always ready to help or assist us to ensure mum is getting the best quality of life possible considering her dementia and advancing years."

"Forget Me Not is looking after an elderly relative of mine. I am impressed by the care that they deliver. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the attention to detail makes me feel very comfortable that I have put my aunt in the right place. It is very rare these days to find somewhere so welcoming, friendly and professional.

I feel totally happy about my choice of care home and I always know that my auntie gets the best care and support."

"We were recommended to check out Forget Me Not House as a suitable permanent placement for our Mum, who has dementia (but does not yet need any nursing care). You can see it is an extended (and then extended further) family house, but still retains that sort of ‘homely’ environment for its 16 residents. Perfect for people with dementia. Following a harrowing experience at a previous temporary placement, FMN House went out of their way to help us relocated Mum at short notice and we have been grateful for their efforts in getting her settled under their care. She will never go back to being the Mum we once had, but we feel she is in the best place available at this level of her condition, and we just hope the ’team’ can keep her reasonably stable. Their care and attention to the individual needs of the residents is apparent and genuine."

"I cannot speak highly enough of the care Mum received at Forget Me Not. Life for the residents is made as like a family home as possible; everyone is treated as an individual, with their needs and preferences catered for. The staff not only treat the residents with dignity, they show real affection for them as well. I only hope that when my own time comes my family can find somewhere like Forget Me Not for me."

"Our organisation has worked with Forget Me Not Home since the inception of our dance course in 2007. The young people we work with have gone into the home on work placements and invited the residents to attend our shows.

The students on our course have found the home to be a warm and friendly environment with an excellent programme of events for the residents. The staff have supported our young people in working with the older people and the feedback has always been 100% positive. The residents visit our theatre and see our productions which is a testament to the range of activities in the one of a kind residential care home.

I cannot recommend Forget Me Not and their staff more highly and have seen first hand how they transform the lives of their residents keeping them positive, active, mobile and most of all entertained. This is a home which is offering excellent customer service and innovative ways of working with older people.

The Staff and Students at Creative Academy wish the staff and residents well while continuing our fruitful relationship."

"I am a secondary school teacher of Health and Social Care. I have had a close professional relationship with Forget Me Not Care Home, its proprietor, Mrs Tania Pell has its staff since 2004. We met when I started teaching this subject and needed a home for my students to visit and learn about life as a resident and the care they receive.

I was very impressed by the positive response to my initial request for a guest speaker at school and for us to visit Forget Me Not. This positive impression has been continually reinforced during our visits. The atmosphere and ethos at Forget Me Not is always so warm and caring. The home is cheerful, the staff obviously really enjoy their jobs and ensure that at all times they maintain the dignity of the residents.

In its handbook Forget Me Not aspires to be ‘a home from home’ for its residents and every time I visit I come away feeling like this has been more than achieved. It’s the little touches such as watching a carer talking with endless patience to a confused elderly lady or the enthusiasm of the centenarian who wanted my students to sit with her and hear her views on the kindness in producing a birthday cake for one of my students who was celebrating her birthday and the excitement of everybody in the home joining in the singing.

Forget Me Not gets all the ‘looking after’ bits of the job done perfectly but more importantly for me it gets the homely bits, the type of care that really matters, right every time. I have no hesitation in recommending the home."
